چکیده

Granular lateritic soil is commonly used for road construction in humid tropical and subtropical regions. However, the high plastic clay content poor particle distribution of some laterite materials make them unsuitable bases subbases. Lime treatment a widely method improving problematic soil, liquid ionic stabilizers are considered an environmentally friendly solution reinforcing such soils. using only lime or may not be optimal. This study investigated effect treating granular with hydrated new stabilizer, Zhonglu-2A (ZL-2A). A series indoor tests, including compaction, California bearing ratio, unconfined compressive strength were conducted to evaluate effects stabilizer on mechanical properties, mineralogical composition, microstructure soil. The results show that increase dosage increases optimal moisture decreases maximum dry density. CBR lime-stabilizer-treated was at least 2–3 times higher than only-lime-treated highest observed samples treated 0.2‰ ZL-2A stabilizer. sample 6% exhibited strength, nearly linear between CBR. Further investigation stabilization mechanism X-ray diffraction mineralogy analysis scanning electron microscopy revealed inorganic substances provided basic conditions reaction generated cementitious hydrates particles. mixture wrapped by forming complex spatial structure To improve capacity subgrades actual subgrade engineering, combination should treat laterite.

Phosphorus Sorption by Gravels in Lateritic Soils

t The effect of sesquioxidic i i ic gravels (>2 mm size fraction) on phosphorus sorption by two gravelly lateritic soils was investigated by phosphorus sorption experiments, X-ray diffraction, ti , autoradiography and electron microscopy. In one soil the abundance and size of gravels l decreased downslope. As the gravel content of both soils increased (13-61%), ), the proportion of large (>8 mm...

Predicting the Behaviour of Stabilized Lateritic Soils Treated with Green Crude Oil (GCO) by Analysis of Variance Approaches

The behaviour of the stabilized lateritic soil obtained from Amaoba, Nigeria treated with green crude oil was statistically studied using analysis of variance with interaction, Kruskal-Wallis test, and expected mean square methods to validate the effect of the additive on the strength properties of the stabilized soil. First a preliminary test was conducted on the soil to classify the soil as a...

Microstructure-Based, Multiscale Modeling for the Mechanical Behavior of Hydrated Fiber Networks

A multiscale formulation is derived for the mechanics of a dilute fiber network microstructure, as occurs in in vitro reconstituted collagen gels, to accommodate the deterministic solution of a uniform-stress condition in the fiber network. The macroscale two-phase equations are derived based on the integral volume-averaging approach of the spatial averaging theorem, modified for the averaging ...
